Kim is a Massachusetts native who earned her B.A. in Psychology from Simmons University in Boston before going on to earn her Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School. After graduating law school, Kim began her career at DOVE, Inc., a multidisciplinary domestic violence organization in Massachusetts, where she worked directly with survivors of domestic violence on high-conflict custody disputes, child support, parenting time, contempt hearings, and removal cases. This work — representing people in some of the most dangerous and vulnerable circumstances a family can face — shaped the kind of attorney she became.

She went on to practice at Sugarman, Rogers, Barshak and Cohen, P.C. in Boston, one of the region's well-regarded family law firms, where she handled cases involving complex asset division and discovery disputes.
